A Treasure of Indian Stamps Left Behind by My Dad

Stamps of India

Stamp Collection was something that I ended up doing because of certain circumstances that I had to face and not avoid. My dad passed away suddenly and left behind a huge collection of Indian stamps which I started admiring only 25 years later. We stored all of those Indian stamps in a cupboard after his death.
My dad was a passionate collector of Indian stamps and would have never wanted to give it away to any other collector just like that. Many collectors offered impressive prices for some of his best stamps of India, but we never gave them away to anyone. Now, my children have grown older and I recently took a look of these beautiful stamps of India. I wanted to find out the actual worth of these stamps and took it around to some collectors and dealers. Most of them offered me very little money for such a marvelous collection of Indian stamps.
It is in fact very difficult to evaluate someone else collection this way. Stamp collecting not like collection coins or paintings. Its value will vary from person to person and your collection is very close to your heart. There are many ways in which stamps can be collected for example country wise, interest wise, topic wise etc. Some like to collect stamps with just elephants, some with just famous personalities. I personally like collecting beautiful stamps of India.
